2019 Professional contest was held on Saturday 13th April 2019 - results on the relevant page

Our Annual Adult Amateur and Veterans contest had been scheduled for spring 2019, but due to clash of dates has been postponed to October/November 2019. Details will be announced in due course but it is anticipated that the contest will be held in conjunction with CLASP.

Annual Juvenile Contest will be held on Saturday 7th September 2019 at NPC Otago St [Formerly the College of Piping]

John Patrick's recital on  Saturday 10th December 2016 was a great success and was enjoyed by the audience who attended and also those who watched on Livestream.

John was taught by Dugald Ferguson then from Age 15 by P/M Angus MacDonald

He played in many successful Pipe Bands and joined British Caledonian Airways PB and was their youngest player aged only 15.

The band of course became Power of Scotland Pipe Band and after that John joined Black Bottle Pipe Band with Don Bradford and Ali Fletcher.


1st piper to win both silver medals in the same year at Oban and Inverness

Overall winner Cowal 1994

A Grade winner of light music Oban & Inverness

Winner of the SPA Knockout contest in 2009

The above events will be held in the College of Piping Otago St Glasgow.

Result for the Knockout Final

The final was held on 7th May 2016 and unfortunately John Patrick was unwell, but Stuart Liddell agreed to play twice and gave the audience a fantastic recital - playing two great performances each about 40 mins long!

Stuart was presented with a cash prize and the Piping Times Trophy handed over by Piping Time Editor Stuart Letford



Result for the Second Semi-Final

of the Knockout Series on 2nd April which featured 

Stuart Liddell vs Steven Leask

This was a very close contest between these two outstanding players but Stuart Liddell won the

 audience vote and goes on to meet John Patrick in 

the final on Saturday 7th May 2016

Result for the first Semi-Final of the Knockout Series on 12th March which featured  Angus MacColl   Vs   John Patrick.

This was a very close contest between these two former winners but John Patrick won the audience vote


Our next Club Night will be on Friday 6th May 2016 at 7.30pm

Knock-out Series

The Scottish Pipers' Association are pleased to announce that the 

Final in our series of Knock-out contests will be on

Saturday 7th May 2016

at the College of Piping Otago Street Glasgow at 7.00 for 7.30pm. There will

be a full bar service available for what promises to be a great evening as the

two pipers are: 

Stuart Liddell vs John Patrick

This will be another feast of top piping that you can't afford to miss!

The ultimate winner will receive the Piping Times Trophy and a cash prize kindly sponsored by McCallum Bagpipes and the final will be held on Saturday 7th May 2016

Club nights will continue to be held on the 1st Friday of each month at 7.30pm
